Wu Ling Oolong Tea
by Pascal S.
fantastic Oolong has a fresh fruity taste, you can clearly feel he is coming from a higher location .... did 3 brews with 85 Celsius for 30 sec. every brew was a nice surprise

While not this exact Wu Ling, it was a Wu Ling oolong that got me interested in tea. While not exactly the same, this one has plenty of the same qualities and is just as refreshing as that original tea I fell for. I can't put into words how happy I am to be able to enjoy my original without having to fly to Taiwan. This is a hard tea to find, and I am so happy to have it. If you're wondering about whether you'll like it, the question is simple, "Do you like Taiwanese oolong?" If yes, you'll love it's smooth, vaguely alpine flavor. If you don't know, you owe it to yourself to try it. It started a now lifelong love for me, and it likely will for you too.

I bought a 7g sample pack and I had no idea that this was a luxurious tea that I was drinking! The consistency between smell and taste found in tea is quite rare. Usually when brewed, there are discrepancies. The smell and the taste matches nearly perfectly with sweet floral tones that seeps into the walls of your mouth. A delight for your taste buds and your nose!

I drink Wu Ling regularly for more than 3 years, and I agree with other reviewers about the perfection on this tea. However, it seems that the quality varies with a season. After several tries I decided to buy only spring Wu Ling and then store it in a fridge.

My first purchase from Tea From Taiwan. I was guided by the previous comments and, upon tasting the tea, can say they are very precise - floral, very fresh taste; very lightly fermented leaves; its flavor is incredibly steady surviving numerous brews that keep this delightful greenish coloring, without turning yellowish that in many Oolongs indicate flavor change. I will continue tasting other samples but Wu Ling has won my heart forever!

So glad I ordered some samples because the one I thought I would like I found a bit heavy. Then I opened The wu ling, I am addicted, it is very light and floral. This is the first time I have used this company and I cannot speak highly enough of customer service, excellent!

(Tea Provided for Review) Another delicious floral oolong. This has an incredible mouthfeel and is quite complex. It changes quite a bit in later steepings. From my blog: http://rah-tea.blogspot.com/2015/05/tea-from-taiwans-wu-ling-oolong.html

WOW !!! This one of the best oolong I've had so far. The taste and aroma is very harmonious. My impression after the second steeping is fruity, creamy, flowery with a very nice flower clean and fresh aroma that remains in the mouth for quite sometime. I really love this tea !!! Thank you to Tea From Taiwan for spoiling our palate with this very premium quality oolong ;)

Delicious! Great even after 3 infusions. I simply make my tea in a french press cup and drink all day long. It is never bitter. I am always careful to make the first infusion with water no hotter than 185 degrees. For The next infusions, I use boiling water that i let sit for a couple of minutes before pouring.

The oolongs from Tea From Taiwan are the best quality. It’s amazing that even though they are so similar, they are also very different. This one smelled very sweet in the package! Also, even in the samples there are these little packets of something to keep the oolong fresh… almost like how new shoes come with that in the toes! Not to liken this tea to shoes or anything! First steep // water is very cooled // 45 sec. First and foremost this is very sweet and smooth, silky! It’s almost like a lighter milk oolong, though I don’t think this is supposed to be a milk oolong. It doesn’t have any of the floral/peachy characteristics that oolongs usually have. It’s very good, even on the first cup! Second steep // water is cooled // 50 sec. This cup is still very much like the first… still no peach/floral/vegetal. The flavor is stronger though. The water might have been a bit too hot. It’s just very sweet, sugary, and creamy! Third steep // 60 sec. This still isn’t very peachy/floral/vegetal but this time there was a little hint of a cinnamon sugar flavor. It couldn’t have been any actual cinnamon sugar, since my cup stayed the same the whole time. And the last of the cup was a hint of peach!

This is my second sample from Tea From Taiwan and I must say that so far I am impressed with the quality. I did prefer the first sample I tried but this was still very nice and I am glad I had the opportunity to try it. In a nut shell this Oolong is green and tastes like flowers but with a sweet and grassy edge that get stronger during it's peak steeps.

This oolong is of the green variety. No oxidized taste at all. It brews to a very mild flavor with body and a slight floral scent and after taste. I have been drinking this tea for over a year and it is my favorite. I still drink green tea but this tea is unobtrusive and delightful. I brew it for 3 minutes for the first two infusions and 5 minutes for subsequent infusions. I have gotten up to 5 infusions with flavor and body before the tea leaves are spent. It is almost impossible to over brew this tea into a bitter concoction. It is very forgiving of a lapsed memory. Since this is a green oolong, 195 degF water is preferred and a ten second rinse prior to the first infusion is recommended. This tea is guaranteed to please. Oh, and do take of whiff of the bag upon opening. You will be greeted by one of natures most perfect olfactory experiences.

After unpacking this Wu Ling and letting it rest in a canister for about 2 weeks, I finally have a good feel for this oolong. I like to brew 5g in a 150mL gaiwan @ 190-195F water temp. Initially, I steep it for 2:20, then I drop down to 2:00, add 30 seconds for the third steeping @ 2:30, then 3, 3:30, and so on. I realize this is pushing the steep time past true gong fu methods, but I like to find a balance between steeping styles that can really bring out the floral, creamy, and sometimes fruit-like aspects to the fullest before a more vegetal signature arises. This Wu Ling is quite balanced between an innate creaminess that is often associated with Li Shan oolongs and an almost juicy, fruit-like, undertone that persists into the 6th steeping. For me, it is not overly floral -- but very balanced between creamy and sweet with almost zero astringency. It has a laid back energy, or cha qi, when compared to other oolongs that can be more energetic. This is a great Li Shan oolong at an even better price point. If you're not thrilled immediately, let the tea rest (as it's a long ride from Taiwan to the US) and focus on your water temp and steep times -- adjusting until you find those subtle characteristics brought out to the forefront.

This tea is very good. One has to be careful in measuring. My standard was too large and tea became bitter with nor much flavor. Got it right now with 1 teaspoonful for 120 ml pot and 6 infusions.

After trying all the teas from the Chong Pei sample pack and a sample of Da Yu Ling, I can say without reservation, the Wu Ling is by far my favorite. Do not be mislead by its lower price, this is a superb tea. The Wu Ling Oolong has a mild, yet complex flavor that is both relaxing and invigorating to drink. Its subtlety and freshness are balanced by the perfect level of astringency. Highly recommended.
Your Wu Ling is excellent tea. I have been a fan of high quality green oolongs for more than a decade. I have found from experience that there are great taste differences even among the best of these teas. I am glad I found your business on the web and look forward to placing additional orders as I consume my current supply.
Am now enjoying immensely the Wu Ling you sent me some time ago. The color, aroma and flavor of the Wu Ling is very hard to beat to say the least.
The tea is great, but after several cups I decided that I like the Wu Ling winter best of all. I will be ordering that on line so I will have some in reserve. It is great doing business with you.
This wonderful selection arrived yesterday. Where to begin?!?!? ...with the Wu Ling,,, VERY nice!!! Many Thanks for providing such pleasures!
The Wu Lin is wonderful! So glad to have found this tea.
