Rui Feng Jin Xuan Milk Oolong Tea

Rui Feng Jin Xuan Milk Oolong Tea

Excellent and reasonably priced milk oolong. Along with the Four Seasons (from Tea From Taiwan also), the Rui Feng is my go-to everyday oolong - without compromise! The aroma is light and pleasant and the soup is robust and complex but retaining a light mouthfeel. The creamy notes blend very well into the other, more vegetal aspects, and the aftertaste is lingering and very pleasant. I'd recommend the Rui Feng to anyone even remotely interested in top-quality tea......

Rui Feng Jin Xuan Milk Oolong Tea

This tea is exceptional.
Notice that this may not be fully appreciated by someone that does not know green and oolong tea well, because of its very complex taste. If you follow the chinese way of making tea (80 degrees water, a couple of minutes infusion) you can use the tea many times, and each it has a slightly different flavour (it becomes more sweet and i feel more the "milky" flavour after the 2nd or 3rd infusion).
It is really a special tea, i have ordered it twice already....

I really enjoy this tea.Taste is subjective and many people means many different tastes.
This is a clean bright tea and nicely sweet.
The leaves are top of plant and no brown spots visible once they unfold.

expensive though....

Chong Pei Sample Pack

Chong Pei Sample Pack

A great sampler. The Wu Ling is a perfect accompaniment to fish and rice dishes, very light and floral. The Shi Zuo was very standard, Very basic and to the point. The Zhong Shu Hu is probably the best choice for an everyday sipping tea. Its flavor was strong but inoffensive. The GABA tea was surprising. While its health claims are bunk (GABA can't cross the blood-brain barrier), the tea itself was a total treat. It was so oxidized that it was more of a refreshing black tea (红茶). Also has a lot of caffeine. The Dong Ding was what I came to this site to order, and it was impressive. It was a darker oolong with a rich honey flavor just as advertised. This sampler was with every penny....

Wu Ling Oolong Tea

WOW !!! This one of the best oolong I've had so far. The taste and aroma is very harmonious. My impression after the second steeping is fruity, creamy, flowery with a very nice flower clean and fresh aroma that remains in the mouth for quite sometime.
I really love this tea !!! Thank you to Tea From Taiwan for spoiling our palate with this very premium quality oolong ;)...

Four Season Oolong Tea

Four Season Oolong Tea

My favorite jade oolong. I have about six different jade oolongs in my shelf and this is my favorite one of all! This Four Seasons Oolong is incredibly sweet, almost like smelling a freshly cooked batch of cookies (a little weird to say about tea - but that is what I felt at the time of smelling the aroma).

GREAT TEA INDEED!...

Shan Ling Xi Oolong Tea

Shan Ling Xi Oolong Tea

It has been a few years since I have had tea that was this wonderful to drink. The aroma is floral and the taste is bitter-with slightly sweet notes upfront, but finishing with a pleasant bitter taste.

I prefer a stronger Oolong in the afternoon after lunch and this particular tea is exactly what I desire in an Oolong. Moreover, because it is on the side of stronger flavor, it can be steeped several times and each time it retains the favor and aroma of the first steep (although not as strong). I highly recommend this tea for people who love to continue to drink their tea throughout the day and don't mind using the same leafs as it would be wasteful to do so given the potency of these leafs....

High Mountain Oolong Tea Bags

High Mountain Oolong Tea Bags

I just received this packet of tea bags last week. I think this particular variety of tea bag is probably one of the best oolong tea I've tried. There's a subtle aroma to it, and lots of genuine flavor. Love it!! By the way, the individual packaging is green with flowers and a train printed on the front, not this festive red packaging....

Zhu Shan Jin Xuan Milk Oolong Tea

Zhu Shan Jin Xuan Milk Oolong Tea

I have to honestly say that I did not like this tea at all. I suppose it is good if you like the odd, added flavoring, but it was just unbearable for me, personally. I much prefered the other two jin xuan teas over this one. Taste is such a subjective sense, so you will only truly know if it is to your liking by trying it for yourself. Others apparently like it, but it just wasn't for me. That flavor just tasted like powdered milk that was just starting to go bad, sort of; so hard to describe. But it's worth trying, just to see the differences in jin xuang that is flavored compared with those that are not....

Hua Gang Oolong Tea

Hua Gang Oolong Tea

I've been a great fan of Hua Gang tea for years but the last shipment I received was somewhat different. The flavour and smell isn't as fruity as before. Also, I notice that the flavour comes out better at a higher temperature than normal. Normally I used a thermometer to reach exactly 83 degrees (inside the teapot), now it must be a bit higher. I'm not sure why this is, perhaps the tea is less fresh, as harvest was in spring?...

it's was hard to decide on how much start to give it, as an sprint harvest growing at 2,000 feet it's the best i had in this category , it has the smooth taste of milk oolong very light ,but it's i found its very hard to brew, to much time or temperature and it's get beater also it doesn't last to many brews still at this price range you usually get an artificial flavored or some tea that's more resemble 4 four season oolong, so it's a good buy ....

Shi Zuo Oolong Tea

Shi Zuo Oolong Tea

Raw this tea consists of dark green leaves that have been rolled into small balls with a sweet, creamy and vegetal scent.

Steep 1 – 1 minute infusion – gongfu style
Pale yellow in colour with a sweet and creamy with buttery notes. It reminds me a little of fresh cabbage water so it is vegetal and green tasting but also sweet and light.

Steep 2 – 2 minutes
Increasing strength this is now very vegetal and reminds me of sugar snap peas. Also getting a bit of dryness on my tongue. Still very sweet.

Steep 3 – 3 minutes
It’s definitely sugar snap pea’s, I snack on them from time to time and it has the same flavour and sweetness. I can only describe the flavour as green but cannot explain what that means…natural…vegetal…a little floral…when you see green planted food you imagine what it tastes like and this is the same as that.

Overall it’s a nice Oolong in taste and quality....

Aged Oolong Tea

Aged Oolong Tea

As I open the vacuum sealed packet I am greeted by small dark brown almost black small tea pieces that have a strong and deep fragrance. I’m finding it difficult to answer what it smells of but it’s very familiar … soy sauce maybe?

Steeping 3 times in my gongfu for 1 minute, 2 minutes then 3 minutes.

Steep 1 – Burnt orange in colour with a smell that reminds me of cigar smoke. The taste is smoky and rich but also earthy and astringent. Sort of like Lapsang Souchong mixed with Pu Erh but on a weaker basis. Roasted chestnuts is a fairly good description.

Steep 2 – Brownish red now in colour but with that same cigar smoke scent. My husband smokes a cigar at birthdays and Christmas so I am quite used to the smell but it’s surprising how similar they are. It sort of tastes like cigar now too which is how it smells. I still like roast chestnuts though as the comparison but now it’s almost like burnt chestnuts. If Lapsang Souchong is the smokiest tea then this must be second.

Steep 3 – Again it’s burnt orange in colour with the same scent. Other than cigar or chestnut I’m finding it really difficult to describe. Muddy perhaps? Smoky and muddy? There is a little sweetness which helps to keep it on the rich yet light side. It’s also a little dry and nutty....

GABA Tea

GABA Tea

This particular Oolong is dark and medium brown with a green tinge. It has a dark, slight smoky and floral scent.

Using my Gongfu for 1 minute – first steep this tea is yellow/brown in colour and has a light wood and floral scent. Very woodsy really…like being in a carpenters shop.

Flavour is sweet and wooden, medium strength with a green, floral after taste. The sweetness is honey like but is made darker by the dominant wooden taste. It’s starting to remind me of pencil shavings.. that dark, dusky, wooden scent that they have…very similar to this Oolong.

Steep 2 – 2 minutes – Remaining amber in colour with the same wooden scent. It’s perhaps a little thicker now with more sweetness than previously....

Tai Xing Jin Xuan Milk Oolong Tea

Tai Xing Jin Xuan Milk Oolong Tea

The dry leaves here smell like SPINACH. I don’t mind it.. I eat enough of it! The steep color is a bright yellow. I let the water cool for quite a bit and steeped for 45 seconds. The taste is lovely! The flavor maintains a bit of that spinach flavor, but I’d say the dry leaves smelled more like spinach than the tea itself tastes like spinach. But it’s like spinach that is buttery and slightly sweet and also a tiny-tad-hint of spice, very silky… it really lingers. I’d say this oolong has more of a vegetal flavor that the usual floral.

But oh no! I just looked at the description and this was the tea that was the milk oolong. I had David’s milk oolong a few weeks ago and this definitely doesn’t taste like that one. The David’s was distinctly milky. This one is just buttery and sweet. I never would have even considered it was the milk oolong if I hadn’t looked at the description!

Second steep: Water was still cooled down a lot // steeped for 50 seconds. This cup is MUCH more like a floral oolong but mostly very peachy! Most of the spinach flavor is gone. I love the evolution of oolong.

Third steep: Water was much closer to boiling // steeped for one minute. I would say this steep is closest to the milk oolong flavor, but that may be because both the spinach and floral/peachy flavors are less distinct. It’s still good!

I think the first steep was my favorite because it was different as a buttery spinach oolong! I think I’ll take a couple points off the rating just for not being what I’d call a milk oolong. A very delicious tea! One of my highest rated oolongs. One of the steeps (or all of them) is bound to be something any oolong fan would love....

Shan Ling Xi Oolong Tea

Shan Ling Xi Oolong Tea

These jade green with hints of yellow buds smell sugary and vegetal. Normally I hate sugary vegetables (ie: coleslaw. Ick, but I’d love coleslaw without sugar). But if a tea smells like that, I love it.

First steep: Waited a while for the water to cool, steeped for 50 seconds, didn’t think that was long enough, then steeped for 35 more seconds. The taste is mainly sweet, much less vegetal than the leaves smell. It’s more of a mildly floral flavor. Very complex but very good.

Second steep: may have been too hot for two minutes. This one really does have a complex & sweet flavor. It is different from all other oolongs I’ve tried, but I can’t begin to describe how. Not quite peachy, floral or milky… but very sweet.

Third steep: …I kind of forgot about, so I have no idea how long it had been steeping. The flavor seems to be lacking, but that may be due to the oversteeping. I’d say unlike most other oolongs, this one didn’t change flavor as much. I definitely didn’t get anything smokey out of this one, like the description says. It’s very hard to describe, so try it for yourself!...

Wu Ling Oolong Tea

Wu Ling Oolong Tea

The oolongs from Tea From Taiwan are the best quality. It’s amazing that even though they are so similar, they are also very different. This one smelled very sweet in the package! Also, even in the samples there are these little packets of something to keep the oolong fresh… almost like how new shoes come with that in the toes! Not to liken this tea to shoes or anything!

First steep // water is very cooled // 45 sec. First and foremost this is very sweet and smooth, silky! It’s almost like a lighter milk oolong, though I don’t think this is supposed to be a milk oolong. It doesn’t have any of the floral/peachy characteristics that oolongs usually have. It’s very good, even on the first cup!

Second steep // water is cooled // 50 sec. This cup is still very much like the first… still no peach/floral/vegetal. The flavor is stronger though. The water might have been a bit too hot. It’s just very sweet, sugary, and creamy!

Third steep // 60 sec. This still isn’t very peachy/floral/vegetal but this time there was a little hint of a cinnamon sugar flavor. It couldn’t have been any actual cinnamon sugar, since my cup stayed the same the whole time. And the last of the cup was a hint of peach!...

The taste was really nice too, it was nice and greenish and floral at first then creamy and almost buttery with some hints of fruit like apple or pear by the third infusion it developed slightly spicy notes almost like cinnamon that really played well with the fruity notes that were still there, This tea is superb to me....

Smells very milky, taste very creamy and smooth with First steep is very milky with slight buttery notes and has a nice creamy mouthfeel and aftertaste. Second steep is almost the same only with an added slightly sweet vegetal note. The creamy mouthfeel is great this is another tea that just feels good in the mouth :)
Even the Third steep is very good still creamy and milky but slightly roasty and nutty almost , very interesting, lingering flavors.
Fourth steep is pretty much same as the last and by the sixth steep I needed warmer water, steep six was nice more roasty, nutty notes same creamy milkyness, this tea is not going to give up soon I had to stop at six steeps :)
Superb Tea!...

Four Season Oolong Tea

Four Season Oolong Tea

This is my favorite tea, not only from this store but my favorite tea ever! I have been drinking loose tea for many years and I have tried other oolong teas but nothing seems to compare to this one. It is very very smooth, providing a wealth of aromas. No harsh grassy taste, no bitterness, and at the same time not watered down taste. It is like a very good quality perfume. Moreover, this is one of the very few teas, which can be brewed few times, providing a new wonderful experience with every cup....

Shi Zuo Oolong Tea

Shi Zuo Oolong Tea

I decided to brew this tea for five minutes with one rinse of tea leaves for a full minute and leaving it to steep with covering on. When I remove the covering from my cup the tea leaves are fuller and green in color; as I scooped them out I am noticing how the leaves looks just the way they were plucked from the tea bush; two bud/two leaves method. If I am using the right term; anyhow, the leaves are full with two leaves per stems. I put the leaves aside and simply take a sip of the tea while noticing its color which is a bright yellow/golden orb of amber with yellow base. Tea is smooth when I taste it; it is cleanly with no astringent. It is more floral like and sweetly-smooth. Tea from Taiwan, thank you for sending this sample for me to experience and review. This is a most enjoyable oolong tea....

Shi Zuo Oolong Tea

Shi Zuo Oolong Tea

First and all this is my very first tea review,

I received the sample pack shi zuo oolong, upon opening the package the first thing that spots my eye is the nice greenish collor of the leafs.

Since i don't own a gong fu set atm i'm a bit forced to brew it western, semi western style. For my first infusing i used a timer and infused for a small minute. and the color of the tea turns out to be beautifull bright green! l

Upon cooling down a bit it taste very sweet and perhaps a bit creamy texture, have to say it tastes very good!

second infusion turns out to be even a bit more brighter green! More floral, more creamy very great taste! Going to do a few more infusions and i'm expecting more of the same quality very nice tea indeed!...

I got 5 great steepings with this tea - I’ve had other milky oolongs. This tea, Rui Feng Jin Xuan, is less astringent, more milky and quite fresh tasting. Aged Oolong Tea

There's no way of starting this review without mentioning the smell. It's quite strange, still not completely unpleasant - "mediciney" is the best word I can think of to describe it. I actually quite like the slightly smokey taste, but the smell is really distracting. Not my cup of tea, if you'll pardon the pun.
Other than that, it is obviously a high quality tea which keeps its flavor for more that 5 or 6 brewings....

Aged Oolong Tea

Aged Oolong Tea

Well, to be honest this one did not start off very well with me at all, at first I was really disappointed I thought this was going to be the worst tea I've had just by the scent of the leaves dry, Smelling them dry all I could think was "chemicals?" I wasn't sure what I was smelling, after first steep and leaves were wet I realized that the "chemical" scent I thought I was getting was more like "camphor" instead much like some scents and flavors that I get from puerhs. Ok then my first cup the first taste of this was "horrible" I really hate to use such a word as "horrible" but thats all I could think, very camphorlike and I quickly noticed the "scorched/burned" taste of this tea, I tasted like this tea was "overbaked/roasted" (I brewed it at 185F so I wouldn't scorch it myself) so it was just the initial taste of this tea that was "burned", I also noticed a very smokey flavor to this tea not quite like a lapsang but more like a smokey "gunpowder" (I think some one else said that too in a review here). After about 4 steeps( BTW at this point there are pretty much flash steeps, very short) this Tea finally starts to mellow out and take on more roasty, toasty flavors rather than just burned flavors with some nutty tones, still smokeyness and only the after taste is slight "scorched" tasting.(Lance suggested putting some sweetener in it so I put some sugar crystals from butiki tea in there, it was not bad at all gave it a nice sweet flavor and brought out nutty tones but at this point it still didn't help that little burned flavor, but it was nice). At about 6 steeps this tea turns very nice wonderfully flavorful smokey with some roasty nutty notes getting naturally sweet NO MORE BURNED flavors(after 5 steeps lol) Super good!
Steep 9 I pour on my water and it still turns dark right away, its not going to give up anytime soon, Different, this time no nuttyness, more smokiness and very nice, almost how you would imagine a really nice Oolong and Smoked Lapsang blend, perfection. The aroma of the wet leaves is still very "camphor" like.
Steep 10 ok perhaps I steeped it a tad long this time( a very short almost flash steep was needed but i was looking at the computer lol) the smokiness is heavier and the slight burned flavor is back but not so bad tastes almost like a Smoked Lapsang now lol nuttiness is back now tho and it is quite pleasant, smell like Oolong in the cup but Lapsang in the gaiwan .
Steep 11 Omg! same deal as steep 9 steeps up dark right away still I like this teas endurance, same basic flavors as steep 9 smokey and nice but with some nuttiness again and natural sweetness coming thru again, honestly kinda PUERHish in some ways....

Shan Ling Xi Oolong Tea

Shan Ling Xi Oolong Tea

Shan Ling Xi Oolong Tea by Tea From Taiwan
This tea has a sweet vegetal smell before steeped and after first steep the leaf has a sweetcorn green/green bean vegetal smell, it steeps up a pale golden color that is very pretty.
1st Steep The taste is sweet and floral with slight astringency it has a nice velvety, almost buttery mouth-feel.
2nd steep is still a nice golden yellow color and has a sweet floral aroma. it has a very green oolong flavor still very floral with some astringency and the same velvety mouth feel.
4th Steep (I skipped the 3rd because it was consitent with the 2nd) is very Floral less green and quite naturally sweet very enjoyable. The sweet flavors are like some other oolong I had so I hate to use it again but almost like the sweetness of huneysuckles.
6th steep (last steep skidded again for same reason) taste is slightly floral more deppend less greenish and the velvet buttery mouthfeel is back. The color is slightly darker Golden Yellow than the first few steeps.
Steep 7 was consistent with 6 enough.
Steep 8 was almost as consistent but with out the velvet buttery mouthfeel.
Steep 9 The coler is a lot paler and the and the floavors are still pretty good but I can tell its fading out so I call it quits and clean up.
This was a quite enjoyable tea, not of of my faves but very good, I'd drink it anytime if it were offered :)...

Dong Ding Ming Xiang Oolong Tea

Dong Ding Ming Xiang Oolong Tea

Upon opening the pack this Oolong was beautifully dark green in colour and it oozed a milky/creamy/sweet floral fragrance. Now this has been rinsed just before my initial first steep it’s exuding a strong green and fresh smell.

First steep – 25s – The tea is honey coloured with a gentle floral scent. The taste is stronger than the smell, it’s very floral and a little fruity with a toasted tang. It’s also sweet and fresh tasting, a lovely example of a stronger oolong.

Second steep – 35s – Slight more floral now in fragrance. Again the same lovely fruitiness and strength but it’s sweeter than the first steep. It’s a dark sweetness similar to molasses but more subtle and fresh.

Third steep – 45s – Now this smells like toasted fresh flowers and has darkened slightly but still remains virtually honey coloured. The green flavour has increased and reminds me of raw broccoli, also the sweetness is being a little overwhelmed by the toasted flavour but the floral notes keep it fresh.

Overall this was a very nice oolong that whilst not committing to full strength was still fairly strong and flavourful. Very fresh and pungent. Suitable for people that love strong oolong or floral tea....

Rui Feng Jin Xuan Milk Oolong Tea

Rui Feng Jin Xuan Milk Oolong Tea

Such a delicate tea. Pretty floral notes dance playfully with an airy vegetative and herbaceous green background. Leaves a wonderful after taste. Not THE milkiest of oolong but does have a soothing milk creaminess to it. Excellent for an all natural milk oolong!...

Dong Ding Ming Xiang Oolong Tea

Dong Ding Ming Xiang Oolong Tea

I received the Ming Xiang tea today. First, I will say that it's good. It is somewhat different than the previous Ming Xiang. If I were pushed to choose between them I would probably choose the former, only because I think it was a little more fruity, with a unique plum taste. However, a plus with this present Ming Xiang is that it seems to offer more infusions. Today, using a gaiwan I stopped at 6 infusions with good taste, and maybe could have had a couple more fair cups. The dry tea is noticeably darker on this tea more than the previous one, and it seems to be roasted more. Or maybe more fermented, I'm not sure. Anyway, it's a good tea and I'm satisfied with my first encounter with it....

Hua Gang Oolong Tea

Hua Gang Oolong Tea

I have to correct on my earlier statement: I actually took the exact temperature with a measure stick. According to me, the perfect temperature is 83 degrees Celsius for this tea. If you don't have a temperature stick, you can reach this by putting boiling water into another (big) cup first and waiting for a bit, or putting it into another big cup again and then pouring it into your teapot....

Shi Zuo Oolong Tea

Shi Zuo Oolong Tea

I have been drinking the Shi Zuo tea. I think it matches your description, but I felt it faded too quick and it was very sensitive to water temperature. The first 4 infusions were good or very good, with nice complex taste, felt a lot of fruit (pear). But then with a little hotter water it became unbalanced and the following infusions with cooler water were nice, but lacked the "wow" factor of first infusions....

Zhong Shu Hu Oolong Tea

This tea is exceptional. Even with multiple steeps this tea is not bitter in any away and the tea develops a mild sweet flavor around the fourth and fifth steeps. I will be purchasing this tea again on my next order....

Wu Ling Oolong Tea

Wu Ling Oolong Tea

This oolong is of the green variety. No oxidized taste at all. It brews to a very mild flavor with body and a slight floral scent and after taste. I have been drinking this tea for over a year and it is my favorite. I still drink green tea but this tea is unobtrusive and delightful. I brew it for 3 minutes for the first two infusions and 5 minutes for subsequent infusions. I have gotten up to 5 infusions with flavor and body before the tea leaves are spent. It is almost impossible to over brew this tea into a bitter concoction. It is very forgiving of a lapsed memory.

Since this is a green oolong, 195 degF water is preferred and a ten second rinse prior to the first infusion is recommended.

This tea is guaranteed to please. Oh, and do take of whiff of the bag upon opening. You will be greeted by one of natures most perfect olfactory experiences....

Wu Ling Oolong Tea

Wu Ling Oolong Tea

After unpacking this Wu Ling and letting it rest in a canister for about 2 weeks, I finally have a good feel for this oolong. I like to brew 5g in a 150mL gaiwan @ 190-195F water temp. Initially, I steep it for 2:20, then I drop down to 2:00, add 30 seconds for the third steeping @ 2:30, then 3, 3:30, and so on. I realize this is pushing the steep time past true gong fu methods, but I like to find a balance between steeping styles that can really bring out the floral, creamy, and sometimes fruit-like aspects to the fullest before a more vegetal signature arises. This Wu Ling is quite balanced between an innate creaminess that is often associated with Li Shan oolongs and an almost juicy, fruit-like, undertone that persists into the 6th steeping. For me, it is not overly floral -- but very balanced between creamy and sweet with almost zero astringency. It has a laid back energy, or cha qi, when compared to other oolongs that can be more energetic. This is a great Li Shan oolong at an even better price point. If you're not thrilled immediately, let the tea rest (as it's a long ride from Taiwan to the US) and focus on your water temp and steep times -- adjusting until you find those subtle characteristics brought out to the forefront....

Tsuei Luan Oolong Tea

Tsuei Luan Oolong Tea

I've been drinking tea for the last 25 years or so and drink tea all day as it's my favourite drink. This tea has a wonderful fragrance and an even better taste. Now, I usually make one brew from tea leaves and discard it as I hadn't found one that made further brews that were flavoursome enough. However, this is, much to my surprise. I certainly recommend this. This is my new favourite shop for Taiwanese tea. Thank you....

Dong Ding Ming Xiang Oolong Tea

Dong Ding Ming Xiang Oolong Tea

I had never been much of an oolong fan and I had tried many of them. However, when I tried this Dong Ding Ming oolong I can't get enough. I love this tea and most especially that honey note that to me sets it a part from most teas. The only other tea that I have had that comes close is Darjeeling. What is so incredible, to me, about most of these teas is that you can get several brewings each time. I know that when I started ordering green and oolong teas from Taiwan and Japan the price was a bit of a shock as I mainly was drinking black Assam teas. These teas are infused just once, but when you consider it is actually preferable to re-infuse you really are getting 2, 3, or maybe 4 time the amount you would have to buy in a black tea. Being from the Southeastern USA I was brought up on iced tea and I must say that this tea makes the best iced tea ever. I brew it a bit strong and then sweeten it slightly with Agave syrup and add lemon or lime. Wow.......refreshing!!!!...
