Oolong Tea From Taiwan

We specialize in top quality oolong tea (also spelled wu long tea or wulong tea) grown and processed in Taiwan. We are a Taiwanese company with the mission of introducing fine wu long tea to the world.

Wu long tea is a semi-fermented tea. It is midway between green tea and black tea in terms of oxidation. It requires several stages of delicate processing before it is packaged.

There are several areas in Taiwan that are ideal for growing tea. We have a selection of high mountain wu long Taiwan tea from Mount Li, Mount Ali, Dong Ding Mountain, and Shan Ling Xi. Because of differences in altitude and soil, each tea area produces a tea unique in flavour and aroma.

Just as with grapes for wine, soil conditions affect the quality and taste of Taiwan wu long tea. Each of the major tea areas of Taiwan can be divided and subdivided into distinct "terroirs" - each producing an identifiable wu long tea from Taiwan.

The analogy to wine is not misplaced - some tea experts can pinpoint the exact locale where a particular wu long tea has been grown. Although the majority of Taiwan wu long tea drinkers don't have this kind of refined sensibility, most can recognize the differences between tea areas such as Ali Shan and Dong Ding, for example.

A fine example of the Dong Ding Mountain tea area is our Ming Xiang wu long tea. This special wu long tea has a honey aroma unique to Taiwan. It is a relatively new variety of wu long that was discovered accidentally during the aftermath of the 1999 earthquake.

A representative tea from the Ali Shan (Ali Mountain) tea area is our Zhong Shu Hu wu long tea. This aromatic tea is a splendid example Taiwan wu long tea - complex, flavorful, revealing fresh nuances with every brewing.

We also have a very special aged wu long tea from 1990. Wang Tan Pei produces a marvelous clear brown liquor with a pleasing aroma reminiscent of roasting chestnuts. The strong, distinctive flavour is slightly smoky with a sweet cleansing aftertaste.

In addition to our fine selection of wu long tea, we have a unique tea called GABA tea. GABA tea is a relatively new type of tea with special health benefits. It is rich in gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an amino acid which is useful for lowering blood-pressure and which acts as a natural tranquilizer.

All our wu long teas are hand picked and hand processed. This results in superior quality tea that is prized throughout the world.

Whether you are a tea connoisseur or a newcomer to the world of tea we are pleased to offer you our top quality wu longs. Please browse our web site. You will find interesting information about tea and the tea culture of Taiwan.
